Young adults find it difficult to complete household chores. It can often be overwhelming to see a long list of tasks that have to be done. It’s mundane, uninspiring stuff that needs to completed in order to live well. While there are many benefits to completing chores besides a clean space, like small boosts of serotonin and motivation, it is often difficult to actually start the cleaning process.
Inspired by Tamagotchis, DirtyPig was created to aid users in completing chores by using an alert system. Users set up tasks by adding pigs to their farm, including the date and time they desire to complete it. This farm serves as their cohesive chore list. To successfully complete chores, the user must track the chore completion in-app by the end-of-day, or else their inaction will have a consequence.
Mount Adanac is no longer just a winter recreational space, but instead an all-seasons community space that invites the surrounding community to connect, converse, and play, right in their backyards. It is transformed into a place that can be loud — holding concerts, special sporting events, and competitions — but it can also be quiet — having walking trails, animal watching, and indoor spaces. In a world that is slowly eliminating third places, it is important to create one that can support many different activities.
Located in the heart of New Sudbury, Adanac lacked a unique visual identity. It was completely void of any personality, instead being very corporate and unappealing to a large demographic. The location is rather accessible by most of the city, however, the space is completely wasted by no one utilizing the space efficiently.
