Basics by CeraVe

Where skin care meets minimalism.

The rise of popularity in the skincare industry has drastically increased the number of products on the market, making it more difficult than ever to know what is good for your skin. A buyers uncertainty rises due to everyone's differences in skin types, texture and ingredients needed. Basics' goal is to ease stress and confusion by creating a personalized product collection using CeraVe products, developed and certified by dermatologists. The brand uses a system of icons to represent the complexity of skincare in a simple, easily digestible way.

The inclusive and straightforward icon system demonstrates the basics of skincare and creates the brand foundation and mission. The brand continues the established mission of convenience and simplicity through every deliverable, either with the compiled pattern or individual icon representation.

Tigers Hockey Rebrand

Where team spirit meets strength.

In my opinion, every sports team deserves a powerful logo they can wear and play for with pride. This ideology inspired the rebrand for Azild's local minor hockey team, the Rayside-Balfour Tigers. This concept focuses on solving challenges their brand and logo currently experience, like adaptability and consistency. Simplifying their current mascot with a new angular style now helps communicate strength and confidence without being unduly aggressive.

Upon first glance at the current logo, it's evident the eyes and mouth hold prominence over all other elements. The revised logo strips every unnecessary detail while keeping the engaging eye contact established in the current version.

Abstract Beginnings

Where progressive architecture meets print.

Abstract Beginnings is a typography exploration booklet about the evolution of playgrounds and their potential for children's critical thinking development. This book explores Isamu Noguchi's architectural efforts to create non-directive play structures before society established the term. This study examines the history of playgrounds, their evolution and safety, Noguchi's career and his work being realized and enjoyed by many.

This subject required an expressive typeface to communicate the playfulness of playgrounds in addition to Noguchi's innovative movement and design. Kobe embodied the subject to perfection and allowed for additional exploration with its rounded modular structure and playful terminals. This typeface influenced me to replicate playground materials like the chain-link of swings and overhead arches, solely with type.
